A Day in Life of an Advanced Esthetician Student

The Blue Cliff Career College Advanced Esthetician Program typically involves a mix of classroom learning, hands-on practice, and interacting with peers and instructors.

We proudly offer day-time and night-time schedules and we will work with you to choose the schedule that is best for you, your life circumstances and goals!

Here is a look at what a day is like for our Advanced Esthetician students:

Morning

Arrival and Prep

  • Students arrive at the school, sign in, and prepare their workstations. This includes setting up tools, sanitizing equipment, and organizing supplies.

Theory Class

  • The day often starts with a theory class where students learn about sciences related to Esthetics and the anatomy and physiology of the body with special emphasis on the head and neck.

Mid-Morning

Practical Demonstration

  • Instructors may give a live demonstration on a particular technique, such as a facial, make-up application or hair removal service.

Hands-On Practice

  • Students break into small groups or work individually to practice the techniques demonstrated earlier. This hands-on practice is essential for developing their skills. They may work on mannequins, fellow students, or actual clients under supervision.

Lunch

Lunch Break

  • A break for lunch allows students to relax, socialize, and recharge for the afternoon. Some might use this time to study or review the morning’s lessons.

Afternoon

Client Appointments

  • Many Advanced Esthetician schools run student spas where the public can book appointments for services at a reduced rate. Students get the opportunity to perform facials, make-up applications, hair removal services and other services on real clients. This experience is invaluable for building confidence and competence.
  • Our educators work closely with our students to make sure the guest and student feel comfortable and are following the right techniques, formulations and methods to create a great experience.

Advanced Techniques and Specialty Classes

  • The afternoon may include more specialized classes focusing on advanced techniques like Herbal Body Wraps, Salt Scrubs, Mud Therapy and Stress Reduction Treatments. Guest speakers or industry professionals might conduct workshops.

Late Afternoon

Business and Salon Management

  • Students might attend a class on the business aspects of building a clientele as an Advanced Esthetician, including client communication, scheduling, inventory management, and marketing strategies.

Cleanup and Review

  • At the end of the day, students clean their workstations and equipment. They may also review the day’s lessons with their instructors and discuss any challenges they faced.

Evening

Study and Homework

  • After leaving school, students often spend time reviewing their notes, completing assignments, and practicing techniques at home. Staying on top of their studies is crucial for success in both exams and practical assessments.

Rest and Relaxation

  • A busy day ends with some well-deserved rest. Getting enough sleep is important to stay focused and energized for the next day.

Additional Activities

  • Workshops and Seminars: Occasionally, students attend workshops or seminars that provide insights into new trends and technologies in the beauty industry.
  • Mentorship: Students often receive one-on-one guidance from instructors or experienced professionals in the field.

This structured yet varied routine ensures that Advanced Esthetician students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for successful careers in the beauty industry.
